German tank destroyer Sd.Kfz. 164 Nashorn (Rhinoceros) mounted on the chassis of a Panzer IV with a powerful 8.8 cm PaK 43/1 gun in a lightly armored open-top superstructure that gave it a very charateristic high profile. Initially known as Hornisse (Hornet), it was developed by Alkett as a temporary solution to equip the Schwere Panzerjäger Abteilungen (heavy anti-tank battalions) to combat the growing threat of Russian heavy armor of the KV, IS and SU series from long distances. Due to its success on the battlefield, and its fast and cheap production by using Panzer III and Panzer IV components as a base, about 500 units were produced between 1943 and 1945.
Dragon Neo Track 1/72 scale model in hard plastic for assembly, 11,8 cm long approx., glue not included. Includes the new more realistic tracks and photoetched parts. Decals for various Schwere Panzerjäger Abteilungen configurations. Not suitable for children under 14 years of age.
