The Sd.Kfz. 171 Panzer V Panther was the German answer to the Russian T-34 on which it was inspired. Considered by many as the best German tank of World War II, it was a medium tank although quite heavy (almost 45 tons), maneuverable and wide-tracked, very well armored, and better armed with a powerful 7.5 cm L/70 KwK 42 gun. The Ausf.G was the third and last version of the Panther. Some units, called Befehlspanzer V, were customized with additional Fu 5 and Fu 8 radio equipment for company, battalion and regimental command vehicles.
