The powerful 7,5 cm KwK40 anti-tank gun, better known as Pak 40 was the German answer to the unexpected threat of the heavily armored Russian tanks of the T34 and KV families during the 1941 invasion of the Soviet Union. The light and handy Pak 40 came to constitute the bulk of the anti-tank artillery of the German infantry and panzer divisions, and their main allies (Finland, Hungary, Romania …). Around 23,500 guns were manufactured until 1945, some of them for armored vehicles.
