German tank destroyer Sd.Kfz. 164 Nashorn (Hornet) mounted on the chassis of a Panzer IV with a powerful 8.8 cm PaK 43 gun in a lightly armored open-top superstructure that gave it a very charateristic high profile. Designed and developed by Alkett in 1942 as a temporary solution to equip the Schwere Panzerjäger Abteilungen (heavy anti-tank battalions) to combat the growing threat of Russian heavy armor of the KV, IS and SU series from long distances. Due to its success on the battlefield, and its fast and cheap manufacture by using components of the Panzer III and Panzer IV as a base, in mid-1943 a new model known as Nashorn (Rhinoceros) was developed, reaching a total production until 1945 of about 500 units.
Dragon Neo Track 1/72 scale model in hard plastic for assembly, 11,8 cm long approx., glue not included. Includes a new more realistic tracks and photoetched parts. Decals for various Schwere Panzerjäger Abteilungen configurations. Not suitable for children under 14 years of age.
